A Holistic Approach For Addiction Recovery
Alongside the advanced clinical treatment at Whispering Oaks Lodge, we provide valuable experiences through our holistic treatment methods. A scheduled retreat to our secluded 18-acre campus in Youngsville, LA provides clients with the chance to restore and renew their mind, body and spirit.
The controlled freedom philosophy employed at Whispering Oaks Lodge – which places fewer restrictions on clients, is possible because of the time we have spent developing a program that clients want to take part in. Creating learning experiences at Whispering Oaks Lodge that serve to introduce, implement and sustain healthy changes in our client’s personal life – this is an essential ingredient of our program.
Below are a few of the holistic treatment methods available at Whispering Oaks Lodge.
Being in a residential rehab facility feels safe. However, many recovering addicts find that after they leave this protective “bubble” of rehab, it is often difficult and stressful to re-enter their home communities and to reach out to friends and family.
At Whispering Oaks Lodge, clients are not completely cut off from the outside world and its obligations. Whispering Oaks Lodge allows cell phones, computers, tablets, etc. to be brought in and used on a daily basis at certain times. We have super fast Wifi available throughout the facility.
Our program also involves taking advantage of what the Youngsville and Lafayette area have to offer. Events and trips for fishing, golf, dining and other entertainment are common. We also work with clients to get them involved in the extensive sober community in the area with regular trips to various AA and NA meetings.
Participation in and with the community outside of the facility helps prepare our residents for life after they return home.
Equine-assisted therapy work often helps clients change and grow more effectively and more quickly than traditional clinical and psychological approaches. Horses are large and powerful. This creates a natural opportunity for some to overcome fear and develop confidence. Working alongside a horse, in spite of those fears, creates confidence and provides wonderful insight when dealing with other intimidating and challenging situations in life. Learn More >
This seasonal program is the first of its kind in the area, and was created to facilitate the rehabilitation of substance abuse patients through the fostering and training of ‘at-risk’ shelter dogs. Clients who qualify will be provided a new avenue toward recovery by training and socializing abused, neglected or unwanted dogs in the hopes of finding them a forever home. Learn More >
